Event Overview: Are you passionate about marine conservation and eager to contribute to research efforts on the world’s largest animals? This season, marine scientists from the South West Whale Ecology Study (a collaboration between Western Whale Research, Ocean Blueprint, Fat Whales Project, and MIM Network) along with Geographe Marine Research - Bay Blues Project are uniting for land-based fieldwork to track and study pygmy blue whales in Geographe Bay—and they need local volunteers like YOU to help monitor these incredible creatures from the shore.
Join us for a volunteer training day, where you’ll learn the essential skills needed to contribute to this collaborative research effort. During the season (21 October - 8 November), you’ll observe and track whale movements at Castle Bay and Shelley Cove, complementing the long-term monitoring at Point Picquet.
