mim network helps you take the next step

Most marine careers don’t start with job ads.

They start with experience, connections and being part of the right network.

MIM Network was created to help aspiring ocean professionals access those opportunities earlier in their careers.

built by people who've been there

MIM Network was founded by marine scientists Emily and Brodee, who have spent the past decade working across research, industry, ecotourism and conservation.

After supporting 50+ volunteer interns through whale research seasons, they saw how hard it was for early-career ocean professionals to access experience and make connections.

So, they built the network they wish they had when starting their careers.

I highly recommend applying for the MIM Network internship in Geographe Bay, to anyone considering a career in Marine Mammal Science. It will equip you with important skills used for marine mammal fieldwork, and provide you with a great network of scientists- just go for it! A big shout out and thank you to Brodee and Emily, who make this opportunity possible.

If anyone is struggling with deciding what path they want to take or simply just looking for opportunities or motivation, I 100% recommend contacting MIM Network. It was the best decision I made in my 3 years of undergraduate studies. Since graduating in 2021, the ongoing guidance, knowledge, and opportunities MIM has given me  have been life-changing. Researching SRWs on Australia’s coastline, seals on the Antarctic Peninsula, and now working as a whale watching guide in northern Norway—just to name a few.

I joined the MIM Network with a passion for conservation but no idea how to turn it into a career. Emily and Brodee listened, guided me, and opened doors I didn’t know existed. I’m now studying Marine Biology (following in their footsteps) and through them, completed amazing whale monitoring internships and a traineeship. They’re professional, supportive, and truly dedicated to building a brighter future for all - 100% recommend their support!
