Our Story
a passion project and a fresh approach to bridging the gap between academia and industry
Drawing from our own experiences, we understand the challenges of sourcing and securing opportunities in the competitive marine and environmental fields. Our goal is to offer a go-to platform for students, early to mid-career professionals, and conservation advocates seeking guidance and opportunities to upskill and gain relevant experience for specialist roles in the industry.
We are committed to building collaborative relationships with universities, NGOs, research groups, government departments, and industry stakeholders to drive and expand this network effectively.
“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” - African proverb

Meet the Team
MIM Network was founded in 2020 by two passionate marine scientists, Brodie Lowe (Elsdon) and Emily Evans, who are both marine mammal researchers, consultants, and mentors.

Our journey began in 2013 at Murdoch University during our first semester of our marine and environmental science degrees. Our shared passions and interests connected us instantly, leading us to pursue parallel paths ever since. With extensive experience across ecotourism, research, and consulting, we have built a strong network within the marine and environmental science industries, which we are excited to share with you.

We have welcomed two new members to the MIM Network team, Corinna Gosby and Naomi Sharp, both marine scientists and passionate science communicators and creators.

You can read more about the team’s individual backgrounds and journeys on our blog.
